Samvar Support

Questions, bugs and ideas: hello@samvar.app. A real person replies, usually within two days.

Getting started

How do I add people?

People → Add from Contacts shows your address book. Tap Inner, Close or Friendly next to each person you want, then Add. Their photo, number, address, birthday and employer come across, and stay in step with their contact card from then on. You can also type a name into the box at the top.

What do the circles mean?

Inner — about 5 people, the ones you'd drop everything for; aim to talk every week. Close — about 15 good friends you want to keep building; every month. Friendly — about 50 people you'd hate to lose touch with; every quarter. Tap the i at the top of Today any time to see this.

How do I log a conversation?

Open Log, tap the box, and type or use the microphone key on your keyboard. Say who you saw, how, and what you talked about. Samvar works out who it was, whether it was a quick catch-up or quality time, and files the things worth remembering (birthdays, family, moves, jobs). Check the draft and tap Save. In the evening, the Who did you talk to today? check-in lets you log quick catch-ups by tapping faces.

Why is someone (or no one) in “Next up”?

Reminders start in the last third of each circle's rhythm — Close from about day 20 of the month, Friendly from about month two of the quarter — except Inner, where they only start once two full weeks have passed. Anyone you've never logged a conversation with can come up straight away. If nobody qualifies, Today says everyone's in rhythm.

What is free and what is Pro?

Everything is free until you've added 8 people and logged 3 conversations. After that, Samvar Pro is a 7-day free trial, then a monthly or yearly subscription at your local App Store price. Pro covers everything: unlimited people and notes, AI understanding of your notes, suggested messages, nudges, the widget and Siri.

Suggested messages and nudges

How does “Suggest a message” work?

Samvar drafts three short openers from your past conversations with that person, the facts you've stored, where they work if it's on their contact card, and — if they have an address — the weather or something happening in their town this week. It never invents facts. Edit freely, then Send, WhatsApp or Copy.

The suggestions feel generic

Log a few conversations with detail (“she's training for a half marathon in March”) and add an address; suggestions get noticeably better. The i button and the intro (You → replay) explain what feeds them.

Notifications aren't arriving

Check You → Settings → Notifications isn't set to Off, and that iPhone Settings → Samvar → Notifications is allowed. The morning nudge, evening check-in and Sunday digest are scheduled on your phone at the times you chose.

The widget shows nothing

Open Samvar once after adding the widget; it refreshes each time the app is used. Add it from the home-screen widget gallery (“Samvar — Next up”) or the lock screen.

Siri

Say “Log a conversation in Samvar” and Siri will ask who and how; it's filed the next time you open the app. “Who should I reach out to in Samvar” opens Today. Both also appear in the Shortcuts app.

Your data

Moving to a new phone

You → Your data → Download backup on the old phone (it opens the share sheet — save the file), then Import backup on the new one. Samvar has no cloud copy, so this file is the only way to move your history.

Someone was deleted from my Contacts

Samvar asks whether to keep their history. Keep moves them to Archived, where they no longer count in your circles; Delete removes them and their conversations.

Deleting everything

You → Erase all data removes everything from the device immediately. Deleting the app does the same.

Subscriptions

Managing or cancelling Samvar Pro

Subscriptions are handled by Apple: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Samvar. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.

Restoring a purchase

You → Samvar Pro → Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID.
